Julius Caesar Documentary Reflection
Julius Caesar
I have not really made a documentary before. This experience was really fun and educating. My topic for this documentary was about Julius Caesar. Anthony, Trevor, and I divided the project into three parts, and then we cam together at the end. I had the part of writing a paragraph about the birth of Julius Caesar, Anthony had the part of writing a paragraph about the life of Julius Caesar, and Trevor had the part of writing a paragraph about the death of Julius Caesar.
My favorite part of making this documentary was putting all of the pictures in imovie. It was really fun because I like working on the computer, and doing all of the tech stuff.
No part of this documentary was really frustrating, my group got along well and we worked together. At first when I picked my topic about Julius Caesar I thought it would be interesting, because in the book that we read A Little History Of The World I thought I would have fun doing this documentary on him. Later, when we got into the project I was right. It was fun working with my group.
Julius Caesar had many interesting things happen in his life and it was fun learning about them. If I had a choice of creating a new documentary in the future I would say yes and no. Yes, because it’s another way of learning about a topic than just reading a history book, and no because I might get tired of them if I do to many, but I enjoyed making this one. All of them members in my group contributed to this project for the first part, but then the tech guy in our group took over a little for putting it in iMovie, but at one point or another we all did the imovie part.
I was happy with the finished product, I think this project was a great success. It turned out really great. If I had to create another documentary the few things that I would do different would be: have everybody to same amount of work, because the imovie part we really just left to the tech guy but then we all worked on it. Also, the documentary was on only one of our group members laptop so if that group member was absent on day we would have nothing to do that day, so everybody should have it on their laptop. Usually in classes the teacher gives you a rubric to follow, but this year each group made their own rubric. I liked it better because we got to make our own rules, and you had to follow them.
For this project each group also made their own calender to follow, we all made our own schedule instead of the teacher making it. I like it way better this way because we could go our own speed without being rushed. I think this is a great way to learn about history, because we don’t have to read out of text books, like I had to do in some of the previous years, but doing a documentary is a educational and fun way of learning about history. I like it because you get to see pictures on the screen, and at the same time you hear facts in the background.
